We first launched the Rainbow Ribbon campaign in 2021 to mark May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex discrimination and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). On this day in 1990, the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the international list of diseases.
We commemorate this important day with a simple yet meaningful symbol: the rainbow ribbon. For us, it represents connection, solidarity, safety, dignity, respect and a gesture of humanity towards queer people across society. It is also a platform that brings together and supports LGBTI+ organisations and projects all around Slovakia.
Thank you for our support of our activity.
In 2024, we are organising the Rainbow Ribbon campaign for the fourth time and will dedicate the whole month of May to it.
Our campaign was created for people based on popular demand. It was indeed born out of long-held need and desire for LGBTI+ people to be seen and accepted. The campaign has been welcomed by the public and has built on their powerful wave of support which has increased 57% since we first launched Rainbow Ribbon as per the data from last year.
Pin your Rainbow Ribbon and support rainbow organisations working in Slovakia!
Only in this way will we build a respectful society and Slovakia will become a better place for the life of each and every one of us.
Thank you for your support 💙
